Buchanan Music | Mesa, Arizona

Do you have "Rent-To-Own" for your rental program?

Yes. Our rentals all have a base rental price which you receive, each month, as credit towards the retail price of a brand new instrument. With no effort on your part, your rent-to-own grows the longer you rent an instrument from Buchanan Music. In order to keep the credit that you have earned, you must continue your rental agreement until you are ready to use your credit to purchase an instrument of equal or greater value to the one that you are renting.

Can I use my rent-to-own credit towards the instrument that I am currently renting.

Unfortunately, no. The instrument that you are renting is a part of our rental fleet and remains a rental. Although we rent the upper echelon of student instruments, they are still student instruments. The rent-to-own program is designed to help you purchase a new, quality student instrument with the credit you have earned, or help offset the costs on upgrading to an intermediate or professional model. Rent-to-own is there to encourage you to continue your musical endeavours by rewarding your commitment to your instrument.

How long do I have to commit to renting an instrument?

You commit the amount of time necessary to enjoy your rental instrument and have fun!

In terms of time for our rental program, your rental agreement is non-binding when it comes to the duration of how long you rent the instrument. Your commitment is on a month-to-month basis and you can return your instrument at any time to complete your rental agreement. Remember, there are no refunds on rental payments so, if you are going to return your rental instrument, make sure you do so before your monthly due date so you are not charged.

What do I need to bring in order to rent an instrument from Buchanan Music?

The only requirements that we ask for are a valid, state or government issued I.D. card and a valid credit card. Your credit card acts as your security for the rental instrument, so we encourage you to make your first rental payment with the card that you want to use on your rental agreement. Otherwise, people who wish to pay with cash, check, or another credit card still must provide their credit card for authorization. When we authorize a credit card, the bank puts a hold for the first month's rental amount for a few days (it differs from bank to bank). This is the only way we know that the card you are providing actually works.

Why do you ask so many questions on your rental form?

A very common question. Please understand that we are providing you with:

  • a quality musical instrument
  • for a low monthly payment
  • that meets the requirements of the band directors for each school in the Valley

We require that the information that you put on your agreement be clear and complete because we are entrusting you with our property.

Ask yourself this: "Would you give something valuable to a new friend without knowing something about them first?"

Is my information safe?

Absolutely. Our employees have been screened and have had thorough background checks. They are trained to keep your information safe and only come in contact with your agreement if they help you initially rent your instrument. For the day to day operations of maintaining the rental program, only the Store Manager and Operations Manager of Buchanan Music is authorized to access your agreement.

Do you have Autopay?

Yes. On your rental agreement, there is a box in which you can authorize autopay by simply signing your name. Autopay is a convenient option for our customers who just want to know that their rental payments are being paid on time. We run an autopay payment by using the credit card that you initially provided on your agreement when you rented your instrument. Remember to please update your credit card information with us should your card expire, be replaced, or be closed in order to avoid costly late fees. If your autopay payment is declined, we will give you a courtesy call to make you aware of the issue.

When is my rental payment due?

Rental payments are due on the day the month you initially rented your instrument. When we rent you an instrument, we place a number corresponding to the day of the month at the top-right of your rental agreement. We provide you a copy for your records and your due date is recorded on that copy as well. So, for example: If you rent your instrument on the 4th day of the month, then your due date is the 4th of each month that follows. If you are going to pay for your next rental payment or want to return your instrument, just do so before your due date.

For autopay customers, your payments will automatically be charged on your due date. Should your due date fall on a Sunday or Holiday, when Buchanan Music is closed, your payment will be run the day before your due date.

Please know that we do not do any billing or notifications of payments due.

What does insurance cover?

Insurance is a part of your monthly rental fee which allows your instrument to be repaired or replaced should it stop working or become defective. Our repair department will fix your instrument at no extra cost to you for most issues.

Insurace does not cover the following:

  • Abuse or neglect of the rental instrument.
  • Strings for orchestral instruments are not covered under the insurance but, because you are renting the instrument from us, you pay for the string at a significant discount and we charge you nothing to install the string, adjust the instrument, and tune it.
  • Mysterious disappearance or loss. If your instrument is stolen, a report must be filed with the local police. Otherwise, you are responsible for the cost of the lost instrument.
  • A specialty mouthpiece. Our rentals include mouthpieces that are appropriate for the abilities of the majority of band students. If you need a different mouthpiece than what is provided for you, that mouthpiece is available for purchase from either us or another retailer. Since you will have purchased your specific mouthpiece, rental insurance will not cover damage or theft of your property.
